Shayla Renay Carter

Shayla Renay Carter, 47, of 4501 Hwy 178 S. Greenwood, entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2026, at Self Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Greenwood County on July 5,1978, a daughter of John A. Carter and Doris Andrews Carter. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School Class of 1996 and attended Clark University.

She was a member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she a faithful member having formerly served as a Missionary, former member of the Choir and YWA’S.

Surviving are: her parents of the home; two sisters, Alisha Carter (Quincy Johnson) and Andrian Carter Ross (Dorian) of Greenwood; special nieces, Tia Johnson and Aavianna Ross; special nephews, Keandre Johnson and Elijah Ross; five aunts, Sylvia Gilchrist (Jimmy) McCormick, SC, Julia Moore (James) of Granitesville, SC, Faria Herbert Coleman of Saluda, SC and Margaret Hamilton (Geroge) of Johnston, SC; one uncle, Ernest Andrews of Johnson, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Danny Webb officiating

Ms. Carter will lie in state from 11:00 AM until Noon on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Church.

Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
